Job Description

Our client requires a Senior Bookkeeper for their accountancy practice business in Bury St Edmunds. The firm is a well-established business with a strong ethos centred around culture, building good teams, and delivering consistently to their clients.

The Bookkeeping Function provides clients with modern bookkeeping services, utilising the latest cloud technology.  The team plays a critical role in the practice, carrying out essential bookkeeping tasks to facilitate the completion of VAT returns, management reports and give a sound base for the preparation of the annual accounts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and work as part of the Bookkeeping Team as a Senior Bookkeeper
  • Managing a multitude of deadlines on behalf of yourself and the wider team
  • Overseeing and reviewing bookkeeping tasks of the team
  • Help to organise the workload of your designated team members
  • Identify and implement procedures and systems for new clients
  • Maintain clients accounting records of their own portfolio of clients on various software but mainly cloud packages
  • Reconcile control accounts (bank, purchase ledger, sales ledger, PAYE, wages, VAT etc.)
  • Timely completion of VAT returns
  • Prepare reports, letters and other documents
  • Telephone and video meeting liaison
  • Establish a rapport with clients, directors, managers and staff
  • Working with the management team to grow the bookkeeping aspect of the business
