The Power of Personal Branding for Accountants

Posted on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 by Sally Morrison5 comments

After a refreshing two-week break in Turkey with my twin girls - complete with paragliding, day trips, and plenty of sunshine (and baklava!) - I’m back, recharged and ready to finish the year strong.

And let’s face it - now that the clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in, and we're officially into Bonfire Night and Remembrance week, it’s time to embrace the last stretch of 2025 and start thinking seriously about 2026.

So this week, I want to talk about something that’s not often given the attention it deserves in the accountancy world:

Personal branding

Why Does Personal Branding Matter in Accountancy?

For a long time, accountancy was a “behind the scenes” profession - technical expertise, strong ethics, and consistent delivery spoke for themselves.

But today, whether you're in practice or industry, how you show up matters more than ever.

Your personal brand is how people experience you - both online and offline. It's what they associate with your name. It’s how you build trust, attract opportunities, and set yourself apart.

And yes - it applies to accountants just as much as entrepreneurs or marketers.

How Can Finance Professionals Build a Strong Personal Brand?

Here are some tried-and-true tips from the recruitment side of the table:

1. Be Visible (in the Right Places)

Keep your LinkedIn profile up to date, even if you’re not actively job hunting. Share interesting articles, comment on industry news, and don’t be afraid to post your own insights. Visibility builds familiarity - and that leads to opportunities.

2. Know What Makes You Different

What’s your niche? Are you brilliant with tech? Passionate about helping SMEs grow? An audit superstar with people skills to match? Own it. People connect with clarity.

3. Consistency is Key

Your CV, LinkedIn, and interview style should all tell the same story. If your CV says you love business partnering, but your online profile is silent, there's a mismatch. Create alignment - it builds trust.

4. Show (Don’t Just Tell)

Back up your strengths with real examples. “Trusted advisor” is just a buzzword unless you can talk about how you built strong client relationships or solved a tricky issue with strategic insight.

5. Stay Professional, but Human

People work with people. You don’t have to post selfies or life updates, but don’t be afraid to show your personality, your values, or your professional passions. It’s what makes you memorable.

Why Should Accountants Focus on Personal Branding?

Because skills alone don’t open doors - visibility and credibility do.

A strong personal brand can:

  • Help you stand out in a crowded job market

  • Open up networking and mentoring opportunities

  • Attract clients or internal champions

  • Position you for promotion or leadership

Think of it as career insurance - you never know when the right person might be checking your profile.

Bonfire Night & Remembrance Reflections

As we mark Bonfire Night today - and look ahead to Remembrance Sunday - it’s a poignant time to pause and reflect.

While one celebrates with fireworks and warmth, the other asks us to remember and honour. Both are tied to values that matter deeply - resilience, community, courage, and legacy.

Whether in life or in your career, these moments are a chance to reset, refocus, and realign.

Have you seen the benefits firsthand? Or maybe you’re just starting to think about how to build yours?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Drop a comment, share your experience, or tag someone who nails their personal brand in the finance space!

Final Thoughts

Personal branding isn't just for influencers - it’s for anyone who wants to own their career story and open doors to new opportunities.

So whether you're reflecting under the sparkle of Bonfire Night, or taking a quiet moment on Remembrance Sunday - use this time to think about how you're showing up, and what you want people to remember you for.

And if you're ready to start shaping your next chapter - I'm right here when you are.

Escazu Chocolates, a bean-to-bar chocolate shop in Raleigh, North Carolina, sources most of its beans from Latin America. The shop said it has always worked with smaller farmers and paid them three to four times the commodity price of cacao – which essentially sets the minimum wage. The spike in prices has pushed up what Escazu pays those workers as well.
    <a href=https://kra35.net>kra20 at</a>
Other cost-cutting measures include offering a smaller hot chocolate size, advertising non-chocolate ice cream toppings and moving to a cheaper location in Raleigh to save on rent.
    <a href=https://kra32cc.net>kra37 at</a>
And like many small businesses in America, Escazu is being hit by President Donald Trump’s tariffs, affecting not just the chocolate, but also aluminum in its packaging.
    <a href=https://kra7.net>kra31 cc</a>
“The tariffs have hit every single piece of what goes into every single thing,” Tiana Young, co-owner of Escazu, told CNN. “There is no new normal.”

Cheung, who regularly expresses hostility toward reporters on social media platform X, asserted in a Friday night post that, “some reporters have been caught” taking pictures of sensitive information and “eavesdropping on private, closed-door meetings.”
    <a href=https://kra---44at.ru>kra40at</a>
That claim came as news to White House press corps leaders, who are not aware of colleagues being “caught.”
    <a href=https://kra39a-cc.ru>kraken38</a>
Early in Bill Clinton’s presidency, Clinton aides similarly attempted to bar journalists from the “upper press” area, causing an outcry. That ban was rescinded.
    <a href=https://klra40.cc>kra30сс</a>
Journalists had normal access to the offices during President Trump’s first term in office. But in his second term, Trump and his aides have taken several steps to stymie news coverage and circumvent traditional media outlets.
    <a href=https://kra--44---at.ru>kra20</a>
Last winter, the administration blocked the Associated Press from attending some White House events, leading to a First Amendment lawsuit that is still working its way through the courts.
    <a href=https://kra-45.ru>kra7</a>
The administration has also stopped publishing transcripts of Trump’s remarks; has taken control of daily press pool assignments; and has invited fawning pro-Trump commentators to presidential Q&As.
    <a href=https://kra-45.ru>kra19at</a>
Some cabinet secretaries have followed Trump’s lead. Last month, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth implemented severe new restrictions for Pentagon press pass credentialing, leading virtually every major media outlet to reject the rules and give up access to the Pentagon complex.

CNN’s Samantha Waldenberg contributed to this report.

Members of the White House press corps are now restricted from the press secretary’s office, the latest in a series of Trump administration actions to limit media access.
    <a href=https://kra-40at.com>kra40 cc</a>
The new rule says journalists cannot access what’s known as the “Upper Press” office space, where White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt works, “without an appointment.”

This area has been accessible to White House correspondents for decades, supporting a free flow of information between the president and the public.
    <a href=https://kra-43-at.net>kra49 cc</a>
The White House says the clampdown is due to security concerns.

“This policy will ensure adherence to best practices pertaining to access to sensitive material,” a White House memo asserted on Friday night.
    <a href=https://kra46at.net>kra47</a>
In response, the White House Correspondents’ Association, which represents hundreds of credentialed reporters, said it “unequivocally opposes any effort” to limit journalists from areas that have long been accessible for newsgathering, “including the press secretary’s office.”

“The new restrictions hinder the press corps’ ability to question officials, ensure transparency, and hold the government accountable, to the detriment of the American public,” the association said.
    <a href=https://kra46-at.cc>кракен переходник ссылка</a>
As CNN’s Jeff Zeleny explained, reporters routinely “wait in the hall” by the press secretary’s office and seek information from communications aides. “When there is breaking news, that often happens,” Zeleny said.

Now, “reporters will only have access to a smaller set of offices of junior advisers, junior aides, junior press secretaries,” according to the White House.

Even the joy of Halloween will cost more this year, with less chocolate than in years past.
    <a href=https://kraken2trfqodidvlh4aa337cpzfrhdlfldhve5nf7njhumwr7.com>kraken2trfqodidvlh4aa337cpzfrhdlfldhve5nf7njhumwr7instad onion</a>
Expect more packages of tangy gummies, riding off a meteoric high last year. Your kid’s trick-or-treat bag may be filled with a lot of pumpkin-spice-filled-anything. And like last year, cocoa bean industry experts are expecting high price tags to be passed down to consumers.
    <a href=https://kraken6gf6o4rxewycqwjgfchzgxyfeoj5xafqbfm4vgvyaig2vmxvyd.com>kraken6gf6o4rxewycqwjgfchzgxyfeoj5xafqbfm4vgvyaig2vmxvyd onion</a>
And with high cocoa prices, every producer from specialty chocolate makers to candy giants are changing up how they sell their treats. For consumers, this could mean less chocolate per package, higher prices and less cocoa content – meaning less chocolate-y chocolate – compared to before.
    <a href=https://kraken2trfqodidvlh4a337cpzfrhdlfldhve5nf7njhumwr7instad.com>kraken4qzqnoi7ogpzpzwrxk7mw53n5i56loydwiyonu4owxsh4g67yd onion</a>
Overall, candy is 10.8% more expensive this Halloween season than last year, according to an analysis of NielsenIQ data conducted by progressive think tank Groundwork Collaborative and shared first with CNN. That’s nearly quadruple the overall rate of inflation.
    <a href=https://kraken7jmgt7yhhe2c4iyilthnhcugfylcztsdhh7otrr6jgdw667pqd.org>кракен даркнет ссылка</a>
In 2024, Halloween candy prices only rose 2.1%, the analysis found.

Halloween spending is no fun-sized matter. Americans shelled out $7.4 billion in Halloween chocolate and candy sales in 2024, a 2.2% increase from 2023, the National Confectioners Association said.
