Interview Advice That Actually Makes a Difference
An interview isn’t just about answering questions - it’s your opportunity to showcase who you are, how you think, and why you're the right fit. Preparation and mindset are everything.
What You Should Know (and Do)
1. Research the company - properly.
Look beyond the homepage. Understand their services, culture, recent news, and industry positioning. Prepare thoughtful questions to ask during the interview - it shows you’re engaged, informed, and proactive.
2. First impressions still matter.
Even in casual workplaces, smart, polished appearance shows professionalism and respect for the opportunity. You don’t get a second chance at this part.
3. Be early, not on time.
Aim to arrive 10–15 minutes early. Use that time to check your notes, scan any company materials in reception, and get into the right headspace. Calm, not rushed.
4. Know who you’re meeting.
Clarify the names and roles of your interviewers ahead of time. Greet them with confidence - firm handshake, eye contact, and a relaxed, professional tone.
5. Own your CV.
Be ready to speak clearly about your experience, especially your most recent role. Focus on how your skills align with the job. Keep your answers structured, confident, and relevant.
6. Listen well.
Interviews aren’t just about talking. Active listening helps you respond thoughtfully. If you don’t understand a question, ask for clarification - it shows maturity, not weakness.
7. Stay positive.
Frame your answers positively. Even when discussing challenges or setbacks, focus on what you learned or how you adapted.
8. Don’t leave anything unsaid.
If something important wasn’t covered, bring it up at the end. Reinforce your relevant experience, clarify your understanding of the role, and show that you’ve truly thought it through.
9. Show your interest.
If you’re genuinely keen on the role, say so. Ask about next steps and timelines. And always thank your interviewers for their time.
